GH2 Solar Ltd will establish a green hydrogen electrolyzer manufacturing plant in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, in partnership with South Korean company Advanced Hydrogen Energy Solutions (AHES) Ltd. The project represents a total investment estimated at $48.2mn.
The facility, located in Morena district, will start with an annual production capacity of 105 megawatts of electrolyzers. The project benefits from public funding through the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme implemented by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), including a $19mn grant awarded under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
South Korean technology and capacity expansion
Through this partnership, GH2 Solar will introduce AHES Ltd’s alkaline electrolyzer technology to India, while also planning to expand into proton exchange membrane (PEM) hydrogen generation systems. The company aims to increase annual production capacity to 500 MW by 2030 and establish a 3 gigawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) assembly line.
As part of this initiative, GH2 Solar is also collaborating with UK-based Rhizome Energy to integrate advanced engineering solutions and industrial design standards into the production site.
Economic impact and sector positioning
The plant is expected to generate more than 300 direct jobs in manufacturing, operations and research, along with several hundred indirect jobs across the supply chain, services and industrial subcontracting.
GH2 Solar, which has already delivered more than 650 solar projects across India for over 325 clients, is among the five companies selected by the Indian government under the PLI scheme for green hydrogen production and electrolyzer manufacturing. This selection strengthens its role in developing national hydrogen production capacity.
