Encavis AG has announced the acquisition of two wind farms located in Bonnhagen (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) and Roitzsch (Saxony-Anhalt). These projects, representing a total capacity of 36 megawatts (MW), are under construction and will be connected to the grid in September 2025 and March 2025, respectively.

Strengthening the energy portfolio

The Bonnhagen wind farm, with a capacity of 24 MW, consists of four Vestas V162 turbines, each capable of generating 6 MW. The estimated annual production reaches 77 gigawatt-hours (GWh). In Roitzsch, two Vestas V150 turbines will ensure a total capacity of 12 MW, producing approximately 34 GWh of electricity annually.

These acquisitions are part of a strategy to strengthen Encavis’s wind energy portfolio, bringing the total capacity in Germany to 376 MW. The sites will benefit from tariffs guaranteed by the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), providing financial stability over 20 years.

Economic and political implications

This strategic move highlights the growing importance of renewable energy in the German economy. Investments in projects of this scale underscore the commitment to supporting the energy transition while consolidating national energy independence.

Additionally, this expansion reflects an increasing interest in public-private partnerships aimed at developing energy infrastructure. The role of ENERTRAG SE, responsible for the construction and operational management of the farms, highlights the importance of strong collaborations in this sector.

A response to climate ambitions

Germany aims for a significant reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, and projects like Bonnhagen and Roitzsch contribute to achieving this goal. The combined 111 GWh of expected annual production will power several thousand households while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

With these acquisitions, Encavis also addresses growing political and economic demands for sustainability, positioning its projects within a favorable legislative framework.
