In Germany, GALILEO and ENVIRIA form a joint venture to propel the expansion of solar energy in the country.

An ambitious partnership

In Germany, GALILEO and ENVIRIA announce that they have joined forces to develop large-scale ground-mounted solar power plants. Indeed, the partnership aims to develop a multi-gigawatt pipeline over the next five years. Thus, the two companies will combine their respective expertise.

Germany sets ambitious goals for the country’s solar power infrastructure. Over the next few years, the country plans to add an average of about 20 GW of solar capacity each year. Thus, it aims to increase the current annual installation rate fivefold.

Essential reforms

Melchior Schulze Brock, founder and CEO of ENVIRIA, states:

“Any company that wants to contribute to the German energy transition needs two things. On the one hand, it requires an understanding of local specifics: the needs of communities, the requirements of national guidelines and regulations, and a strong network of partners and suppliers. That’s what ENVIRIA brings to the table. On the other hand, you need to be able to zoom out and have a broad perspective beyond national borders, beyond solar, and look at the broader European energy transition. GALILEO, with its pan-European multi-technology, skills-based approach, offers this essential complementarity. That’s what makes this joint venture so natural.”

Thanks to its knowledge of the German energy landscape, the joint venture is equipped to adapt its projects to local needs. As such, the projects will provide direct benefits to communities and offer energy prices well below current market rates.

GALILEO and ENVIRIA aim to help Germany reach its solar energy production targets quickly and efficiently. Currently, development times can be up to 4 years from the signing of the first contract to the commissioning of the solar park.
