GCL Intelligent Energy (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of GCL Energy Technology, has signed two shareholder agreements for solar projects in Indonesia, marking another step in the group’s international expansion. The projects, located in Banyuwangi and on the Gajah Mungkur reservoir, will each have an installed capacity of 100 MW.
Strategic Partnership with PLN Indonesia Power
The agreements were signed with PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP), a key subsidiary of the national electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). These two initiatives are part of the Hijaunesia program, a national Indonesian plan to accelerate the development of renewable energy. Under the terms of the partnership, the two companies will combine their resources to build and operate these solar facilities.
Yu Xiaodong, Chief Representative of GCL Group in Indonesia, led the delegation during the signing ceremony. In the presence of Julita Indah, Vice President of PLN IP, both parties discussed long-term prospects, including expanding cooperation into other areas such as wind power, waste-to-energy, and energy storage.
Strengthening Presence in Southeast Asia
The Banyuwangi project will consist of a ground-mounted photovoltaic plant, while the Gajah Mungkur project will utilize floating solar technology on an existing reservoir. These facilities aim to bolster Indonesia’s energy security while diversifying its electricity mix.
GCL Energy Technology has been operating in Indonesia for several years through a dedicated team, whose performance has been praised by local authorities and institutional partners. The group continues its strategy of international expansion into emerging markets with high potential.
