Engineering group GATE Energy has secured the commissioning contract for bp’s Kaskida Floating Production Unit (FPU), located approximately 320 kilometres offshore Galveston in the Keathley Canyon area. The project is being developed in close coordination with Seatrium, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
A deepwater greenfield development
The Kaskida project represents a greenfield development in deepwater, signalling bp’s continued operations in high-potential areas of the Gulf of Mexico. GATE Energy will oversee all phases of commissioning, including static and dynamic testing, systems completion management, and interface coordination. The company has confirmed that all services will be executed under stringent safety and quality standards.
Renewed partnership between GATE Energy and Seatrium
Mark Myhre, President of Commissioning at GATE Energy, noted the continuity of collaboration with Seatrium, previously established on other deepwater oil developments, including the Argos platform also operated by bp. The Kaskida project will once again mobilise GATE’s integrated teams based in Asia-Pacific and the United States.
Proven expertise in floating production systems
This latest contract expands GATE Energy’s experience in commissioning floating production units fabricated by Seatrium. The company has specialised in delivering complex offshore projects where logistical coordination and technical compliance are critical components.
