Freasdail will benefit from RES’ operation and maintenance expertise to optimize the management of the wind farm. This TRIG onshore wind farm is located on the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland.

A contract for the maintenance of the wind farm

Freasdail with this contract will benefit from the availability guarantee, as well as scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. The wind farm consists of eleven Senvion turbines that produce 22.5MW. Thus, when fully operational, they can supply the equivalent of 15,000 homes.

This successful tender allows for the potential recruitment of more O&M technicians, who would be located in Scotland, to support the growing portfolio. So, Chris Sweetman is TRIG’s Director of Operations says about Freasdail:

“We are very pleased to be working with the RES team on the Freasdail Wind Farm O&M contract, with their appointment following an independently conducted competitive tender. Our long-standing relationship with the O&M team has enabled us to award this comprehensive contract with great confidence, as we are reassured that they will deliver this contract to the highest standards and meet our requirements given their proven capabilities on other TRIG contracts.”

As a result of a growing demand for wind turbine technicians, RES is launching its first dedicated apprenticeship program in the UK.

Training is a priority

Maintenance of the turbines, which are located at Freasdail Park, requires technical, software and hardware training. RES O&M technicians gain knowledge and experience in the operation of advanced software. This will put the O&M team in a favorable position for future tenders.

7 new apprentice technicians are taking the RES training. This learning is a priority for the company as it expands its activities. In addition, the company is constantly looking for new opportunities for its development.
