In France, Neoen won 180MW of solar and wind projects in the last government tender.

11 solar and wind projects

In France, Neoen has announced that it has won 11 solar and wind power projects. The announcement follows the last governmental call for tenders managed by the Commission de Régulation de l’Energie. In addition, the company states that the projects have a capacity of between 12MW and 22.8MW.

In accordance with its model, Neoen is the majority shareholder in each of these projects. The 180MW won testify to the company’s ability to develop projects throughout France. The company acts in consultation with elected officials, landowners, local stakeholders and the State.

Two solar projects, located in the Grand-East region of France, with a combined capacity of 42.1MWp, have won. The solar power plants of Isle-sur-Marne (19.3 MWp, Marne) and Morhange 2 (22.8 MWp, Moselle) will enable the upgrading of two anthropized sites. Indeed, it is, respectively, a former quarry and a derelict military land.

Administrative litigation

Construction of the Isle-sur-Marne and Morhange 2 solar power plants will begin in 2023. In addition, Morhange 2 is an extension of the Neoen photovoltaic park located in the same municipality. In addition, 9 wind power projects, with a combined capacity of 137.8MW, are also winners of this call for tenders.

The projects are located in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Normandy, Grand Est, Bourgogne – Franche Comté and Pays de la Loire. Among these projects, the construction of the Vesly wind farm in Eure, with a capacity of 12MW, can begin. On the other hand, the 8: feel of all their permits but are subject to administrative disputes.

Xavier Barbaro, President and CEO of Neoen, states:

“This new success demonstrates the dynamism of Neoen in France. We are reaping the fruits of more than 10 years of work in the territories. More than ever, Neoen is ideally positioned to contribute to the acceleration of renewable energies in our country: solar and wind power are the best vectors for the energy transition in France as in the rest of the world.”

Once operational, these 9 wind farms will produce approximately 300GWh per year. This power represents the consumption of more than 120,000 people in France (including heating). Thus, they will allow to support the electrical network in periods of high consumption.
