Fluence Energy, Inc. announced a partnership with Torch Clean Energy to supply the energy storage technology for the Winchester project, a solar-plus-storage facility located in Cochise County, Arizona. The project will include 160 MW / 640 MWh of storage capacity, divided into two identical systems. Commissioning is expected in early 2027.
Supporting growing energy demand
The infrastructure will be installed adjacent to two 80 MW solar farms. It aims to meet the region’s projected energy demand growth while contributing to grid stability. Torch Clean Energy, a privately held company specialising in turnkey power facility development and operation, will oversee the project development.
According to announced specifications, the project will use Fluence’s Gridstack Pro 5000™ solution, which includes U.S.-manufactured components such as inverters, thermal management systems, and enclosures. This configuration will enable eligibility for domestic content tax credits while supporting the national manufacturing sector.
Tax benefits and local anchoring
The Winchester project is also designed to strengthen local infrastructure and contribute to economic development in Cochise County. By combining solar generation with battery storage, Torch Clean Energy aims to dispatch low-cost power when the grid needs it most.
Fluence Energy, Inc., a global player in intelligent storage solutions, claims over 22 GWh of deployed or contracted storage capacity across more than 90 projects in the United States. The company serves independent power producers, developers, and utilities nationwide.
Growing battery storage capacity
With this new project, Fluence expands its footprint in the U.S. market while supporting a more flexible energy infrastructure. The on-site combination of solar generation and battery storage provides a direct response to demand variability and peak load management.
