FirstEnergy is issuing an RFP to enter into long-term solar power purchase agreements (PPAs).

A purchase agreement for up to 20MW

FirstEnergy announces that this application is on behalf of four utilities for FirstEnergy Pennsylvania. The four utilities are Pennsylvania Power Company, Pennsylvania Electric Company, Metropolitan Edison Company and West Penn Power Company. Utilities are seeking proposals to acquire up to 20MW of solar capacity.

Brattle Group, will lead the bidding process. FirstEnergy states that applications for qualification must occur by November 7, 2022. Bids must be submitted by December 5, 2022.

An agreement for a maximum of 10 years

Bidders to this RFP may offer to sell tranches of solar PV alternative energy credits. Based on the results, Pennsylvania utilities will therefore enter into one or more separate agreements with the successful vendors. Power purchase agreements will be for a period of more than four years and not more than ten years.
