EVE Energy said it has completed grid connection of the world’s first 400MWh energy storage system based on 628Ah lithium iron phosphate cells. The installation, integrated into phase II of the Ruite New Energy project in Lingshou district, Hebei province, marks a major step for large-scale applications of so-called big-cell battery technologies.

The project was developed jointly with State Grid Power Technology and is built to a 200MW/400MWh configuration. It is the first operational example of a large-scale storage system using exclusively cells with capacity above 600Ah, which improves energy density, reduces lifecycle costs and strengthens facility safety.

Accelerated deployment in one week

EVE Energy delivered and grid-connected 80 Mr.Giant storage systems, alongside 40 integrated converter cabins, within seven days. The company said it carried out quality control, technical coordination and commissioning without interruption, demonstrating rapid execution capacity at industrial volumes.

This achievement improves the flexibility of the local grid by supporting frequency regulation and peak shaving. The system also aims to increase the reliability of power supply while facilitating the integration of renewable generation in Hebei province.

Chinese technology moving into export markets

On 10 September, the first batch of the Mr.Giant system equipped with 628Ah cells left China for Australia and Europe. Designed for long-duration storage applications of more than four hours, the system features high efficiency and low noise operation, with a sound pressure level of ≤65dB.

With this step, EVE Energy is accelerating the international roll-out of its very high-capacity battery technology, already mass-produced on its industrial lines. The breakthrough positions the company among the first suppliers able to meet rising demand in stationary storage markets, especially in regions where integration of intermittent generation is becoming strategic.

Towards industrialisation of high-capacity storage

By covering the entire value chain, from research to field deployment, EVE Energy demonstrates the technological maturity of 628Ah cells in a real industrial environment. This project could serve as a reference model for other markets, where demand for large-scale storage infrastructure continues to grow rapidly.
