In an era when energy transition is crucial, European Energy and Petrobras are positioning themselves as forerunners. Indeed, this potentially revolutionary alliance draws on the expertise of these two energy giants and could transform the Brazilian energy sector.

E-Methanol Production Project in Brazil

The planned project, focused on e-methanol production, benefits from European Energy’s experience in building the first large-scale commercial e-methanol plant in Denmark. However, this know-how is a considerable asset for the Brazilian project.

European Energy expertise and achievements

European Energy, active in Brazil since 2016, has established its local expertise in the development, construction and operation of renewable energy assets. What’s more, with an impressive portfolio of 187MW of solar and wind power connected to the Brazilian national grid, and a development pipeline of 1.5GW, European Energy is establishing itself as a major player in the region.

Petrobras’ contribution to the Partnership

Petrobras also brings its expertise and recognition to the market. Its Chairman, Jean Paul Prates, stresses the importance of working with reliable, established partners like European Energy to bring companies and countries together in this ecological approach.

Project Development and Potential

The collaboration, formalized by a memorandum of understanding, envisages several areas of development to evaluate the implementation of this e-methanol plant. These include a complete assessment of the value chain and adherence to the national regulatory framework.
The planned plant in Kassø, Denmark, is a concrete example of European Energy’s commitment to e-methanol production. Scheduled for completion in 2024, it will produce 32,000 tonnes of e-methanol a year. Companies such as A.P. Moller – Maersk, Novo Nordisk and LEGO are also among the buyers.

This partnership between European Energy and Petrobras is a step towards the future, with the aim of boosting renewable energy production and having a positive impact on the environment. It represents not only a business opportunity, but also a commitment to a more sustainable future.
