Equinor is requesting to develop extensions to the offshore wind farms located off the North Norfolk coast. These are the Sherigham Shoal and Dudgeon offshore wind farms.
Economic benefits
Equinor develops the economic benefits of these wind farms. They would supply the equivalent of 785,000 more homes in the UK. In addition, the two parks will support more than 1,800 full-time jobs per year during construction in the UK and East Anglia.
In the long term, the operation of these two wind farms would support direct employment and supply chains. They would create over £340 million in direct gross value added during construction. In addition, Equinor’s application is dated in early September 2022.
Local consultations
Kari Hege Mørk, Equinor’s project manager says:
“The group will offer its full cooperation to the Planning Inspectorate throughout the next review period.”
In addition, Equinor consulted with the local community during the development of the project. For example, the group has initiated two rounds of community consultations and a series of public information days.
These consultations explain the incorporation of several design changes for the parks. The objective is twofold: to minimize local disturbance and to maximize the potential for net gains in biodiversity. For example, these projects will include crossings without damaging the surrounding roads.
