EQTEC Plc announces the commissioning of its Market Development Center (MDC) located in Italy, for December.

A development center

EQTEC Plc proposes to transform biomass waste into hydrogen energy, biofuel, and electricity. This center is located in Gallina near Castiglione d’Orcia in Tuscany. The plant will showcase EQTEC technology to potential customers, including industrial, utility, municipal and other agricultural customers.

The Italian 1MWe market development center will convert several types of biomass feedstock. This could be straw and wood waste. Initially, the plant will only export electricity to the national grid through a secure connection.

However, EQTEC is a company that offers state-of-the-art solutions in all areas. At the end of October, the company announced that it had successfully completed steam and oxygen gasification tests. These confirm the compatibility of EQTEC’s syngas technology for the production of advanced biofuels.

Local raw materials

The biomass feedstock will be supplied by at least one local supplier. But also thanks to alternative suppliers who are also ready to supply the raw material. In addition to being an MDC, it will be a commercial-scale facility that will play an important role in the local Italian agricultural community.

Thus, Italia MDC will be the first clean solution for the conversion of agricultural waste of local origin into energy in the whole Val d’Orcia in Tuscany. David Palumbo, CEO of EQTEC, states:

“We are looking forward to getting the MDC Italia up and running as another demonstration of EQTEC’s technology in a real-world commercial environment. We expect operational availability of 90% or more, as we have seen in the plant we commissioned in Spain more than ten years ago. I look forward to the plant starting operations before the end of the year.”

This energy recovery system is the first market development center in Italy in the sector.

The company will develop a plant presentation program in early 2023. Investors will be allowed to attend strategic transactions live. The plant will be the first of many MDCs that will showcase EQTEC’s full range of advanced energy solutions.
