Eos Energy Enterprises has signed an $8 million contract to supply energy storage systems to the San Diego naval base. This project is funded by a grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC). The aim is to improve the energy resilience of this critical base for the U.S. Navy fleet, enhancing the reliability of its essential functions and contributing to the national energy security of the United States.
A strategic contract for the Navy
The storage systems used in this project are Eos Energy’s Z3™ cubes. These cubes are designed with non-flammable chemistry, ensuring a high level of safety, and their lack of cooling systems helps reduce operational costs. The manufacturing of these units takes place in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, within a predominantly local supply chain.
Enhancing energy resilience in California
This project is part of a broader effort to improve California’s energy stability. It contributes not only to the energy resilience of military installations but also to California’s overall goal of strengthening the energy security of its critical infrastructure.
This contract with the San Diego naval base is part of a series of partnerships aimed at enhancing the energy resilience of military installations across the United States, within the context of national security and the management of global energy risks.
