Éolus announces the acquisition of its first onshore wind project, acquired from Horizons, located in southwestern Poland.
A first project of Éolus
Éolus announces that the park will be ready for construction in 2028. The site should have 86MW of power. However, the ambition is to further expand the project to at least 100MW.
The continuation of the project will see the participation for the development and construction of its partner Horizons. Éolus recently became the owner of 300MW of large-scale solar projects with Horizons. Thus, Horizons is a strategic partner in the Polish market.
An adjustment of the regulations
Daniel Larsson, Country Manager at Eolus Poland, says:
“This acquisition of an onshore wind project is an important step, both for Eolus Poland and in our cooperation with Horizons. We believe that the potential of onshore wind in Poland is very significant, which is why the amendment of the 10H rule will be crucial to accelerate the energy transition process in Poland and ensure energy security in these uncertain times. With this investment, we confirm our belief in the further development of onshore wind in Poland.”
The project depends on the modification of the 10H rule in Poland. Indeed, it is a, a law that regulates the minimum distance between a wind turbine and residential buildings.
Michał Prażyński, CEO of Horizons, states:
“The acquisition of a wind farm in development as well as the continued cooperation around this project with Eolus is the best example of Horizons’ strategic activities. With its business in Poland, Eolus proves its long-term strategy and commitment to the market.”
Eolus’ total portfolio of renewable energy projects under development in Poland exceeds 1 GW. In addition, the land leases are already formally agreed upon for the first 86 MW.
