EDP, S.A., through its 71.3% owned subsidiary EDP Renováveis, S.A. (EDPR), has concluded a sale agreement for a wind portfolio with a total capacity of 121 megawatts across France and Belgium. This transaction is part of the Portuguese utility’s asset rotation strategy, aimed at reallocating capital towards new investments.
The sale was executed with various vehicles managed by Amundi Transition Energétique (ATE), for an enterprise value of €200mn ($215mn). The portfolio consists of twelve operational wind projects, including eleven located in France with a combined capacity of 111 MW, and one in Belgium with a capacity of 11 MW. All assets were commissioned in 2020.
Partial progress towards divestment target
With this transaction, EDP Renováveis reports having secured approximately €1.1bn ($1.18bn) of its €2bn ($2.15bn) asset rotation proceeds target for 2025. The asset rotation model allows the company to release capital while maintaining the ability to develop new projects.
The sold portfolio includes stabilised assets with recent commissioning dates. No further details were disclosed regarding power purchase agreements or revenue performance of the sites involved.
European framework and regulatory context
The deal falls under the framework of Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council on market abuse. The sale follows an initial market disclosure made on May 15, confirming EDPR’s intention to accelerate divestments in mature operational assets.
This contract milestone reflects EDP Renováveis’ portfolio optimisation strategy, while also highlighting institutional investor appetite for operational energy infrastructure in Western Europe.
