EDF Renouvelables and Eiffage Concessions are commissioning the Subligny solar power plant, comprising 26,000 photovoltaic panels. The solar power plant is located in the municipalities of Subligny and Villeneuve-la-Dondagre on a 10-hectare site.
A local partnership
EDF Renouvelables and APRR, a subsidiary of the Eiffage Group, signed an agreement in 2017 and committed to the development of renewable energy. A partnership authorizes the construction of the 10 MW power plant, which will meet 25% of the electricity needs. Thus, this solar power plant will supply Communauté des communes du Gâtinais, in the Yonne department in Burgundy.
Thus, two other solar power plants are involved in this project. The first one is located near the A6 motorway, close to the Col de Bessey in Côte-d’Or. The second one is located in Nitry in Yonne. The inhabitants of the communities participate in the construction of the three solar power plants.
An ambition for 2035
Indeed, in March 2022, the inhabitants of Subligny, Col de Bessey and Nitry invest in solar power plants. A participative platform collects the funds. This fundraising campaign raised €387,000, including €187,000 for Subligny.
EDF Renewables conducted environmental and technical studies prior to the construction of the Subligny solar power plant. The objective was to protect the oligotrophic pond and the nearby Palmetto Newt species. EDF Renewables’ ambition is to become a solar leader by 2035.
