Development of a 220 MW solar farm in Algeria

The inauguration of the solar photovoltaic park in Biskra marks a crucial milestone for Algeria. Located in the 400-hectare municipality of Lagros, the plant will integrate over 330,000 PV panels. Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab underlined the importance of this project at the official ceremony, during which he laid the foundation stone for the solar park.

Economic impact and employment

The solar park site will generate 600 jobs during the construction phase and create 10 permanent positions once operational. This development makes a significant contribution to thenational and localeconomy, while strengthening the region’s power grid.

This park is one of several projects initiated following the signing of contracts in March for the allocation of 3,000 MW of solar capacity. Another 200 MW wind farm has also been commissioned in Tindela, consolidating Algeria’s commitment to renewable energies.
