DEEP Earth Energy Production Corp. announced the finalization of its strategy for the construction of its first geothermal project in southeast Saskatchewan. Construction of the 25 MW facility will begin in the third quarter of 2023 and will be Canada’s first 100% natural geothermal energy facility.

DEEP receives support from Natural Resources Canada and SaskPower

DEEP Earth Energy Production Corp. is grateful for the continued support of Natural Resources Canada, SaskPower and its private partners in converting its geothermal resources into renewable energy. The technology used to generate electricity will be the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), an evolving technology for new geothermal installations.

State-of-the-art technology for geothermal well field design

Engineering and procurement activities for long-term well and surface elements are already underway. DEEP Earth Energy Production Corp.’s “rib cage” layout and geothermal well field design. are state-of-the-art and could be a transformative global application of modern oil and gas drilling and completion techniques.

Field work for a 56.2 km2 3D seismic program has also begun and is scheduled for completion in March. The data will be used for horizontal well trajectory planning on the eastern half of the first well row and for future expansion planning.

Large underground concession of 39,568 hectares

The facility planned for southeast Saskatchewan will have the capacity to provide a renewable and reliable source of energy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The subsurface geologic reservoir model predicts that this 39,568 hectare subsurface lease will be able to support the construction of several power generation facilities in excess of 200 MW.

In summary, DEEP Earth Energy Production Corp. is preparing to enter the construction phase of its first geothermal project in southeastern Saskatchewan. This project will use modern oil and gas drilling and completion techniques to generate renewable energy, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
