D3Energy has started building a 6 megawatt (MW) floating solar park for the village of Monroeville, in the state of Ohio, which is expected to become the largest installation of its kind in the region. The project, integrated into the local distribution grid, is being developed under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Gardner Capital, the owner of the infrastructure.

A partnership structured around a purchase agreement
The village of Monroeville entrusted the project to D3Energy, which is working with Gardner Capital and ARP Solar to carry out the implementation. Under this contractual arrangement, the electricity generated will be purchased directly by the municipality from Gardner Capital. According to D3Energy, this structure ensures stable supply conditions while strengthening local energy capacity.

By installing the system on an existing reservoir, the project avoids the use of more than 30 acres of land that would have been required for a ground-mounted system. This approach optimises available space and connects to the grid without the need for new buildable land.

Capacity and commissioning schedule
Anchors and floating structures are currently being installed. Commissioning is planned for early 2026, according to information provided by D3Energy. Once operational, the installation is expected to generate more than 7,500 megawatt hours (MWh) per year, equivalent to supplying 700 households and doubling the municipality’s current non-fossil energy capacity.

The project benefits from the experience of teams that previously delivered the Del-Co Water floating installation in 2023. This accumulated expertise is presented as a key factor in meeting the timelines and production targets set in the current contract.
