Cortus and Nordbex have signed a preliminary contract for the delivery of a 60MW WoodRoll® biomass power plant in Scandinavia, with construction scheduled for the second half of 2025. The contract includes options for four further power plants over ten years, with a total value of SEK 2 billion.

Delivery and preparation

The partnership stipulates that Cortus will supply the main components of the 60 MW WoodRoll® biomass power plant, as well as technology licenses, royalties and commissioning and maintenance services. The first plant will be located in the commune of Nybro. Aker Solutions will coordinate project preparations on behalf of Nordbex.

Financial Planning and Future Opportunities

Financing for the first project, as well as the other four potential projects, is underway with several partners, including a major Nordic bank. This investment represents a major step forward for both companies in the Scandinavian energy sector.

Impact on Cortus and Nordbex

This contract is a strategic opportunity for Cortus Energy to strengthen its position in the biomass market. By collaborating with Nordbex, Cortus gains access to new markets and diversifies its revenue sources through long-term commitments. It also guarantees financial stability and sustained growth for years to come. For Nordbex, this partnership offers a proven solution for large-scale energy projects. WoodRoll® technology enables Nordbex to offer efficient and reliable energy installations, consolidating its reputation as a leader in energy projects in Scandinavia.

Growth prospects and future developments

The contract opens up significant growth prospects for both companies. The establishment of the first plant in Nybro will serve as a model for future projects, facilitating replication and rapid expansion in the region. In a fast-changing energy market, biomass solutions offer competitive advantages in terms of cost and efficiency. Rolf Ljunggren, interim CEO and founder of Cortus Energy, said, “This partnership marks a commercial milestone for us. We have demonstrated that our technology is ready for large-scale implementation.” Thomas Öström, CEO of Nordbex, added: “Cortus and WoodRoll® offer an efficient and reliable solution for new energy installations in the region.”
