Corsica Sole and the mayor of Picarreau inaugurate the largest photovoltaic plant in Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
A local project
Corsica Sole will ensure the annual electricity consumption of 10,000 homes. This is equivalent to the population of the agglomeration of Lons-le-Saunier, a prefecture of the Jura department. The plant will produce 29,800 MWh of electricity per year.
In 2016, the company responded to a call for projects to build and operate this plant in the Jura region. In 2019, the Picarreau solar farm is a winner of the national call for tenders of the Energy Regulation Commission. Dominique PELLIN, the mayor of Picarreau, declared on this occasion
“By dint of determination, motivation, and insight, our municipal team has completed all the steps of a long and difficult path lasting more than six years. The result is a magnificent solar farm that I recommend you discover through the three educational kiosks placed on its peripheral route”.
Participatory financing
Corsica Sole’s power plant in Picarreau benefits from local participatory financing. The inhabitants of the municipality, the neighbouring departments and the Jura finance, in part, the solar farm. This participation allows the inhabitants to take ownership of the project.
The program preserves the biodiversity of the fauna and flora. Corsica Sole has more than 100MWp of photovoltaic plants in operation in France. The company also has over 50MWh of power plants with energy storage.
