Clean Energy Technologies Inc. (CETY), a company specialising in modular energy solutions, has secured a $10mn contract to deploy a battery energy storage system in New York State. The project represents the company’s largest storage initiative to date, with additional installations already planned for the coming months.

An expandable system to support the grid

The project involves the installation of a standalone 5 megawatt (MW) / 20 megawatt-hour (MWh) system designed to enhance grid reliability and reduce peak demand. It will also participate in ancillary services markets and the state’s Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) programme. The selected site is eligible for expansion up to 20 MW / 80 MWh, subject to interconnection approvals.

CETY will serve as the full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, delivering system design, procurement of technical components, site construction, testing and compliance with interconnection and wage regulations in New York State.

Developing a multi-technology portfolio

The contract award comes as CETY reports a project backlog exceeding $20mn, covering energy storage, waste-to-energy and heat-to-power segments. The company is now focusing on larger, higher-margin projects to improve cash flow generation and strengthen access to capital.

This strategy reflects a sustained growth trajectory, with the company also exploring merger and acquisition opportunities to expand its footprint in decentralised energy markets.

Positioning in a growing market

By entering the large-scale storage segment, CETY aligns its operations with the increasing demand for modern grid infrastructure. This diversification complements its existing technologies in waste-to-energy and thermal power generation.

According to company leadership, the awarded project is a strategic milestone in expanding its business model into markets supported by government incentives and industrial demand.
