The California Green Innovation Index confirmed that California reached a share of 52.3% of electricity from renewable sources and large-scale hydropower in 2024. Although methodologically composite, this figure reflects a significant reduction in fossil energy dependency. It is not aligned with the Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) obligations, as large hydro is excluded from the qualified renewables count.
