La Clé des Champs will be able to cover 10% of the energy needs of Puy-en-Velay. This percentage represents the equivalent of the annual consumption of some 5600 French households. In addition, it is the largest photovoltaic production site in the Haute-Loire.

Boralex’s photovoltaic project is a winner of the French CRE 4 solar bidding program. In addition, it benefits from a 20-year purchase incentive contract. Nicolas Wolff, Vice President and General Manager of Boralex, Europe says:

“In the midst of an energy crisis, we need to turn to renewable energy. Renewable energy is competitive and allows communities to benefit from local energy production at low cost. The La Clé des Champs solar farm, a crowdinvesting project, is a testament to our ability to co-create meaningful projects for the region. We are very pleased with this solar project, our first in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.”

A crowdinvesting campaign

In 2019, Boralex is approaching the city of Le Puy-en-Velay and the town of Saint-Christophes-sur-Dolaison. Thus, the company proposes to allow communities to become financial partners of the project La Clé des Champs. Indeed, the company, located 11 km away, in Chaspuzac, relies on crowdinvesting.

Opened in October 2020 by Enerfip, the crowdinvesting campaign is resonating with residents. Thus, it allows to collect €844000 in less than three weeks, that is to say 40% of the capital necessary for the project. In total, more than 150 eco-investors in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region are contributing to the success of Boralex’s campaign.

Boralex has approximately 30 years of experience in providing affordable and accessible renewable energy. The Canadian group has a total of 2.5GW of installations. Finally, the company is developing a portfolio of 4GW of wind and solar projects and 200MW of storage projects.
