Blue Grass, a solar park in the state of Queensland, Australia, developed by X-ELIO is being inaugurated.

A large-scale project

Blue Grass is located 14 kilometers from Chinchilla in Queensland, Australia. The 200MW solar farm is one of 50 large-scale renewable energy projects in Queensland. It will help support the state government’s renewable energy goal (QRET).

Queensland aims to generate 70% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030. Moreover, by 2035, the state government wants to continue this goal to reach 80%. The announcement was part of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.

The Blue Grass site is expected to provide 420 GWh of green energy per year. Thus, the solar park will be able to avoid the emission of more than 320,000 tons of carbon dioxide. In addition, it will supply 80,000 homes across the state.

In addition, during the two years of construction, the solar farm created 400 local jobs. In addition, the Blue Grass project required an investment of more than $200 million in Queensland. In addition, the solar farm is based on state-of-the-art technology.

Societal integration

Blue Grass hosts 375,000 bi-facial solar panels and semi-cut cells. The goal is to improve performance and efficiency to help reduce the cost of solar energy. In addition, the solar farm supports Australia’s 2050 net zero ambitions.

Gransolar Group (GRS), Ingeteam and Powerlink carried out the construction of the project and the connection to the grid. Blue Grass is financially supported by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), ING, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). In addition the project is supported by Salesforce, Stanwell Corporation and Australia’s only 1.5 ℃ electricity retailer, ZEN Energy.

In addition, four community initiatives will also receive funding. He will speak at the Blue Grass Community Support and Benefit Sharing Fund event. The objective of the Fund is to allocate a percentage of the project’s revenues to local community projects.

Funding recipients include the Resourcing Country District Instrumental Music Program. It will provide musical instruments to students in more than 400 schools in the region. The Fund will also support the Western Downs Emergency Services Unit.
