BayoTech, a company specializing in hydrogen production and distribution, recently appointed Diaco Aviki as President and CEO. This appointment comes as the company continues its expansion with a decentralized hydrogen hub model, the BayoGaaS® Hydrogen Hubs, aimed at meeting the growing demand for clean hydrogen. Mr. Aviki, former Chief Operating Officer at Crestwood Midstream Partners L.P. (Crestwood), brings substantial energy sector expertise to BayoTech, where he will focus on driving innovation and commercial growth.

Diaco Aviki’s experience in the energy industry

With nearly three decades of experience in the energy sector, Diaco Aviki previously held strategic positions at Crestwood, until the company’s sale in November 2023 to Energy Transfer LP for $7.1 billion. Mr. Aviki oversaw key areas such as business development, project management, and safety, strengthening his ability to lead complex initiatives. His career also includes a role on the board of directors of Pinon Midstream LLC, where he supported the recent sale of the company to Enterprise Product Partners, L.P. for $950 million.

National expansion of BayoTech’s hydrogen hubs

To meet the growing demand for hydrogen, BayoTech has established production hubs in the Midwest and California. This decentralized model, based on local facilities, reduces hydrogen transportation costs and decreases associated emissions. The company’s objective is to reinforce this infrastructure with new hubs, thereby optimizing supply for regional users.

BayoTech employs high-pressure storage and transport technology, ensuring efficient hydrogen distribution to local customers. This approach, supported by a network of high-capacity equipment, enhances delivery reliability and efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. The company plans to expand its network of hubs in California and other strategic regions over the next five years.

Smooth leadership transition

Mauricio Vargas, former CEO and now Executive Chair of the Board, expressed confidence in Diaco Aviki’s leadership to guide BayoTech into a new phase of development. Mr. Vargas stated that the progress made thus far places BayoTech in a strong position to continue its commitment to the energy transition.
