Swiss energy group Axpo has formalised a route-to-market contract in Poland to support a corporate power purchase agreement (cPPA) between French retailer Auchan and energy producer GoldenPeaks Capital. The contract covers the annual delivery of 115 gigawatt hours (GWh) of solar electricity to Auchan’s retail network across Poland.

A contractual framework aligned with market needs

Axpo will act through its Polish subsidiary to balance the electricity generated by 35 solar plants operated by GoldenPeaks Capital. The company, active in the construction and operation of solar and wind projects, manages all these installations throughout Poland. The solar energy will be physically sold to Auchan, with Axpo acting as the market intermediary.

Axpo’s role in this agreement includes ensuring market access, balancing network flows, and securing long-term price stability. These elements allow the partners to stabilise operational costs in a persistently volatile energy market environment.

Tailored structuring between producers and consumers

Mateusz Marczewski, Board Member and Head of Origination at Axpo Poland, stated that this type of agreement is developed to meet specific requirements: “We have developed a unique agreement that facilitates a physical cPPA between GoldenPeaks Capital as producer and Auchan as end customer.” He also highlighted Axpo’s experience in structuring such contractual arrangements.

According to Alexandre Saussard, Chief Executive Officer of Auchan Polska, the agreement not only meets the company’s energy needs but also improves cost control. He noted that the deal enhances stability and independence from market price fluctuations.

Strategic positioning for all three companies

GoldenPeaks Capital, headquartered in Switzerland, sees the agreement as a key outlet for its photovoltaic production in the Polish market. Adriano Agosti, Founder and Chairman of the group, stated that the contract is part of a large-scale strategy to deploy renewable electricity generation technologies.

The agreement enables the direct delivery of 115 GWh of solar electricity annually, covering a significant share of energy demand for Auchan’s retail sites in Poland. By consolidating energy flows through a single interface, the three partners reinforce their respective positions in a European landscape shaped by changing energy supply chains.
