The Italian authorities recently granted a crucial authorization for the construction of a 90MW solar power plant in the municipality of Cerano, located in the Puglia region. This project, developed by European Energy through its subsidiary Cerano Energreen, paves the way for a large-scale clean energy source.

A large-scale project for Puglia

The Cerano solar power plant, with its 90MW capacity, represents a major project for the Puglia region. It is designed to meet growing energy needs while making a significant contribution to Italy’s renewable energy objectives.

Reducing CO2 emissions with solar power

Once completed, the Cerano solar power plant will generate enough clean energy to power 55,500 homes, resulting in an annual reduction of 66,600 tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to the use of traditional fossil fuels. This marks a major step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Italy.

Commitment to reforestation and infrastructure

This project goes beyond clean energy production. It also includes a commitment to reforestation, with 35 hectares set aside for this initiative. In addition, work to improve the region’s infrastructure is an integral part of the project, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development.

Use of advanced photovoltaic technologies

The Cerano solar power plant will take advantage of the exceptional solar conditions in Puglia, Europe. It will use advanced photovoltaic technologies, including tracking panels that adjust their orientation according to the sun, ensuring optimal energy production throughout the day.

Italy’s role in Europe’s green transition

The approval of this project strengthens Italy’s position in Europe’s green transition. European Energy is committed to developing renewable energy in all regions of the country, helping to achieve the EU’s clean energy goals.

For the next phase of Italy’s green transition, green hydrogen production will play a key role. European Energy intends to contribute its experience to this initiative, thus contributing to Italy’s sustainable energy future.

The authorization granted to European Energy for the construction of the Cerano solar power plant marks a significant step towards achieving Italy’s renewable energy targets. As well as providing clean energy, the project is also committed to reforestation and improving local infrastructure.
