Arcwood Environmental has completed the acquisition of ERG Environmental, a specialist in special waste management, thereby consolidating its position in the North American environmental services market. The transaction was conducted by independent investment bank Brown Gibbons Lang & Company, which acted as exclusive financial advisor to ERG. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Livonia, Michigan, ERG Environmental delivers integrated special waste management services across the broader Great Lakes region. Its network of licensed facilities, coupled with a full technical and logistical offering, covers all stages of complex waste processing, including sampling, laboratory analysis, characterisation, transport, and disposal.
Strategic expansion in the industrial market
Indianapolis-based Arcwood Environmental is one of the leading providers of environmental management services in North America. This acquisition aims to increase its geographical coverage and technical capabilities in industrial environmental services. ERG’s presence in key regional markets complements Arcwood’s assets and strengthens access to a diversified industrial and institutional client base.
Through this transaction, Arcwood gains specialised expertise in regulatory compliance, on-site technical support, and special waste management. The two companies share a similar operational approach focused on vertically integrated services and coordination across regional infrastructure.
Consolidation in the environmental infrastructure sector
Arcwood Environmental is owned by EQT Infrastructure, an investment platform focused on essential assets in energy, transport, and utilities. The acquisition of ERG Environmental forms part of a broader strategy to consolidate the environmental infrastructure sector in the United States, with a focus on regional growth and operational efficiency.
ERG Environmental has an established reputation in the Great Lakes region, with extensive partnerships among local governments, industrial clients, and commercial operators. Its integration into Arcwood’s structure is expected to accelerate the pooling of logistics and value-added services.
