Parkwind has successfully installed 24 turbines for the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm, marking a major milestone for the offshore wind industry.

Offshore wind industry marks a significant milestone with the success of the RNA method

The wind farm, located in German territorial waters in the Baltic Sea, northeast of the island of Rügen, began installation of foundations in early summer 2022 and has already been producing green energy for the German grid since mid-January 2023.

The turbines were installed using the revolutionary RNA floating installation method developed by Parkwind in collaboration with Heerema MC and Vestas. The RNA method has proven to be a successful and reliable method for installing wind turbine generators with floating installation vessels. Installation cycle times were consistent and competitive with traditional methods, while the floating installation had a variety of specific advantages, such as zero interaction with the seabed.

The success of the RNA installation method is a significant achievement for the offshore wind industry. This marks Parkwind’s continued innovation in offshore wind, as they have been at the forefront of innovation in the industry for the past decade. With the growth of offshore wind energy targets, this type of innovation is essential if we are to move towards a sustainable future as quickly as possible. As areas move further offshore and wind turbines increase in size, we are certain to see continued demand for substantial innovation in the industry.

Parkwind, PMV and OstseeWindEnergie GmbH contribute to the energy transition with the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm

The Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm was developed by Parkwind with the participation of PMV and OstseeWindEnergie GmbH, a project company of the three partners Oberhessische Versorgungsbetriebe AG, Stadtwerke Bad Vilbel and WV Energie AG. The wind farm will begin operation in 2023 and will provide enough green energy to power the equivalent of 290,000 homes.

Parkwind is an independent green energy company that develops, finances and operates offshore wind farms. With more than a decade of experience and 771 MW under operational management in the Belgian North Sea, Parkwind is currently expanding internationally. With active projects in various stages of development, Parkwind is present in Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Greece and Australia / New Zealand.

Heerema Marine Contractors, on the other hand, is a global leader in the transportation, installation and demolition of structures for the offshore energy industries. Customers have trusted Heerema for sixty years to provide solutions that make the impossible possible offshore. They manage the entire supply chain of project execution, offering solutions that include front-end engineering, planning, logistics, project management, and project execution worldwide.

The successful installation of the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm using the RNA floating installation method is a milestone for the offshore wind industry. It is a testament to the innovation and dedication of the companies involved in the project, including Parkwind and Heerema MC. With the growth of offshore wind energy targets and the remoteness of coastal areas, continued innovation in the industry is essential to achieve a sustainable future.
