AquaDuctus, the 1st pipeline to transport green hydrogen from Germany’s North Sea to the continent, is currently in preparation.
AquaVentus is initiating the project, in collaboration with Shell, RWE, GASCADE and Gasunie, who have just signed a declaration of development intent.
AquaDuctus pipeline project finds partners
The AquaDuctus pipeline, designed to transportgreen hydrogen from the North Sea directly to the continent, has attracted the interest of several collaborators.
Indeed, partners Shell, RWE, GASCADE and Gasunie have signed a declaration of intent to develop AquaDuctus.
A feasibility study for the project is also due to be carried out.
This will be the first step in the initiative.
In addition, some 48 companies, research institutions and organizations such as Vestas are taking part in the project.
AquaVentus at the heart of the project
AquaDuctus is a project developed by AquaVentus.
It provides 10 GW of electrolysis capacity for the production of green hydrogen from offshorewind energy.
The project is located between the island of Heligoland and the Dogger Bank.
A total of 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year could be transported from 2035 onwards.
Through the development of AquaDuctus, Aquaventus aims to increase the use of hydrogen.
It is also encouraging the production of renewable energies in Germany and the rest of Europe.
