Ameresco wins Environment + Energy Leader‘s Project of the Year award.
The award recognizes the company’s energy management work on the San Joaquin solar farm in California.

Ameresco wins American Project of the Year award

Cleantech integrator Ameresco wins the Environnment + Energy Leader award for best project of the year.
Its solar installation at the Foothill landfill in California was selected by the program’s jury of experts.
The Environment + Energy Leader Awards recognize projects that have improved environmental or energy management.
The company’s solar farm meets all these criteria.
In fact, it illustrates an excellent way of reallocating under-used land to achieve maximum energy savings.

Solutions Summit for environmental and energy leaders

In addition to receiving this award, Ameresco will participate in the Environment and Energy Leaders Solutions Summit.
This will take place on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
The company and county representatives will speak during a half-hour session, scheduled for 4:00 pm ET.
They will look at a second project developed in the same location and the reasons for maximizing underdeveloped land.
Finally, they will discuss how a similar strategy can be implemented in other projects.

13,000 solar panels by 2020

In recent years, the company, supported by San Joaquin County, has developed two projects on the Foothill landfill.
In 2014, it developed a landfill gas-to-energy facility to convert waste into renewable energy.
Following this success, in 2020 it oversaw the installation of 13,000 solar panels on the site.
The aim: to further support the county’s long-term sustainability ambitions.

28,500 tonnes less emissions per year

The solar installation at the Foothill site is part of the global energy transition.
Bob Georgeoff, the company’s vice president, said,

“We (…) are proud to have worked with the county to reduce its emissions by more than 28,500 tons per year. We look forward to supporting their ongoing sustainability efforts.”

Tom Patti, Chairman of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, meanwhile, says:

“The Board’s focus on improving our local communities through clean, safe energy resources is of the utmost importance as we plan for our energy future. The Foothill Landfill solar project is not only great for the environment, but obviously helps offset the cost of increased electricity costs for local ratepayers.”

The award recognizes Ameresco’s years of work in maximizing the value of the Foothill landfill.
Moreover, through its work, the company is contributing to San Joaquin County’s energy transition.
