Ameresco inaugurates its 9.2 MW wind power project in Greece.
The project was awarded under a contract with Ameresco’s Greek subsidiary PPC Renewables.
With its 1st wind farm in Europe, Ameresco strengthens its position as an international leader in renewable energies.
Ameresco develops 9.2 MW of wind power in Greece
Ameresco has just completed the construction of four 2.3 MW wind turbines at Xerakia Dilinata in the municipality of Kefalonia, Greece.
The €9.8 million project was awarded to Ameresco in 2019 by PPC Renewables.
PPC Renewables is therenewable energy subsidiary of Greece’s largest energy company, Public Power Corporation.
Ameresco is a leading cleantech integrator and developer, owner and operator of renewable energy assets.
The company will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Greek site under an additional 14-year fixed-price contract.
Supporting Greece’s energy transition
This project will enable Greece to advance its environmental sustainability objectives.
In fact, its carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 22,000 tonnes each year, equivalent to almost 5,000 cars not being driven.
In addition, the wind turbines will provide clean energy for the region, while preserving the island’s beauty and resources.
The wind farm will also be a tax benefit for residents.
PPCR will donate 3% of the revenues generated by the wind farm to local governments and communities.
