Allied Green Ammonia (AGA) has finalized an acquisition contract for 3 GW of electrolyzers with Plug Power. This initiative aims to enhance large-scale green ammonia production in Australia, a strategic effort to address the growing demand in Europe and Asia.
AGA plans to use a dedicated 4.5 GW solar power plant to operate the electrolyzers, ensuring emission-free production. With a planned capacity of 2,700 tons per day, this project provides a significant response to the needs of agricultural, industrial, and energy sectors undergoing transformation.
Key steps for an ambitious project
The agreement includes the development of a Basic Engineering and Design Package (BEDP), a technical document designed to attract investors and finalize the necessary financing. This critical phase is expected to culminate in a final investment decision by the second quarter of 2025. If validated, the equipment delivery will begin in the first quarter of 2027.
A strategic partnership for energy transition
The demand for ammonia produced from green hydrogen, used as a feedstock in agriculture or as an energy carrier, is growing rapidly. AGA’s initiative reflects current trends in international markets, where securing large-scale projects is essential in the face of increasing economic and environmental demands.
A strong signal for the green ammonia market
This project, oriented towards European and Asian exports, highlights the rapid evolution of hydrogen technologies and the structuring of a global value chain. The markets targeted by AGA demonstrate sustained demand for competitive energy solutions aligned with international climate goals.
