The acquisition of 160 MW of wind power strengthens the company’s portfolio of over 1.7 GW of renewable assets.

Two new projects in the United States

In a press release, Allete subsidiaryAllete Clean Energy announces the acquisition of the Red Barn wind project.
The company will complete construction and sell the project at the end of 2022.
It will then be purchased by the Wisconsin (USA) Public Service for its energy planning needs.
Red Barn will comprise 28 turbines on around 12,220 acres, with an estimated capacity of 91.6 MW.
This sale is part of the transition of the generating fleet owned by WEC Energy Group and Madison Gas&Electric.
The acquisition of Red Barn also includes a neighboring project, Whitetail, representing an additional 67.5 MW of renewable capacity.

This purchase expands the group’s presence in the United States, now owning projects in 8 different states.
Founded in 2011, Allete Clean Energy acquires, develops and operates renewable energy projects.
It has a portfolio of 1.7 GW of renewable capacity, and aims to develop the country’s energy transition.
