Akuo has announced the launch of a crowdfunding campaign for a portfolio of solar power plants in the Thessaly region of Greece. This initiative, the first of its kind for the group, is hosted on the new “AkuoCoop by Lendosphere” portal, in partnership with Lendosphere, experts in participative financing. The initial amount of the campaign is set at 1 million euros, open to all European citizens interested in investing in renewable energies.
This project enables investors to contribute to the refinancing of the Thessaly solar farm, operated by Akuo. The 8-hectare solar farm comprises four photovoltaic power plants (Tsairia, Zappeio 1024, Zappeio 1008 and Foniades), with a total output of 4 MWp. For savers, it’s a unique opportunity to play an active part in Europe’s energy transition, with a minimum contribution of 100 euros via online registration on Akuocoop by Lendosphere. The platform is multiplying its partnerships, as demonstrated by its recent collaboration with EDF Renewables.

An exclusive portal for Akuo projects

AkuoCoop by Lendosphere is a portal dedicated to the Akuo Group’s participatory financing campaigns. The projects presented not only support renewable energy initiatives, but also projects with a strong social and environmental impact selected by the Akuo Foundation. By emphasizing the participative dimension and the sharing of value with local stakeholders, Akuo reinforces its commitment to communities and sustainability.
The four photovoltaic plants of the Thessaly solar farm, located near the town of Larissa, produce 6.3 GWh per year, enough to power 570 homes and avoid the emission of 2,100 tonnes of CO2 per year. Commissioned in 2023, they are now fully operational, symbolizing the first stage in a wider program to develop a total capacity of 500 MW in collaboration with the Thessaly region.

Towards a sustainable energy future

Greece, through its government, is committed to increasing the share of renewable energies in its energy mix to 80% by 2030. Akuo plays a central role in this transition, supporting the National Integrated Energy-Climate Plan (NECP). According to Éric Scotto, President and co-founder of Akuo, this national commitment represents a strong signal for the renewable energy industry, and an opportunity to accelerate the development of sustainable projects.
Akuo continues to be actively involved in innovative initiatives for the energy transition, directly involving citizens and local communities. This participatory and inclusive approach is essential to achieving decarbonization targets and promoting a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
