Aker Solutions supplies an HVDC transmission system for a large offshore wind project.
The identity of the customer has not yet been revealed.
Aker Solutions signs major contract
Thecompany, as part of a consortium, signs a major EPCI contract with an as yet unknown customer.
The company will supply an HVDC (high voltage, direct current) transmission system for a major offshore wind power project.
Further details are expected to be announced by the customer in the third quarter of 2021.
Offshore HVDC conversion platform
For Aker Solutions, the project will involve the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of an offshore HVDC conversion platform.
The platform will consist of a steel-clad substructure and an upper platform deck housing the electrical equipment.
Work will start immediately, with installation scheduled to begin in the second half of 2024 and final deliveries in the second half of 2025.
In an offshore wind project, the role of an HVDC platform is to collect the alternating current generated by the wind turbines.
The platform then converts it into direct current.
Finally, it transmits them to the project’s onshore converter station and grid connection system.
280 million euros
This is a particularly important contract that Aker Solutions has just signed.
The contract should enable Aker Solutions to book orders worth NOK 3 billion (280 million euros) in the third quarter of 2021.
