Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s leading renewable energy company, has inaugurated a 180 MW solar power plant in Devikot, in the Jaisalmer desert, Rajasthan. The project is backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). In an India still largely dependent on coal, this 180 MW solar power plant will generate around 540 million units of electricity a year, powering over 110,000 homes and reducing almost 0.39 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. The use of new-generation bifacial PV modules and single-axis horizontal solar trackers (HSAT) maximizes generation by improving module efficiency and tracking the sun throughout the day.
Innovation and sustainability at the heart of the project
Equipped with water-free robotic module cleaning systems, the plant promotes water conservation in the arid region of Jaisalmer. The Energy Network Operations Center (ENOC), anchored in a secure digital cloud platform, enables real-time monitoring of AGEL’s renewable energy assets, improving operational performance.
With the commissioning of this plant, AGEL’s operational solar portfolio reaches 6,243 MW, bringing total renewable generation capacity to 9,784 MW, the largest in India.
