Aers Energy België chooses Air Products to build a hydrogen refuelling station

A significant step forward in the field of hydrogen road transport in Europe is taking shape with the creation of the first liquid hydrogen refueling station for trucks. Air Products and Aers Energy België have joined forces to develop this innovative installation in the port of Zeebrugge.

The Air Products and Aers Energy België liquid hydrogen refueling station for trucks will be the first in Europe. Located in the port of Zeebrugge, it will be built under an agreement between the two companies. In addition to the hydrogen refueling station, Aers will operate a secure truck stop, a rest area, a store and a restaurant.

Emissions reduction

The project is part of a broader strategy to support the sustainable development of Belgium and Europe and the goal of CO2-free heavy road transport. Using mainly liquid hydrogen, the station will save about 8 to 11 kt of CO2 equivalent per year, replacing diesel.
