ACWA Power, a world leader in energy and water desalination, has just signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Indonesian state-owned company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) (PLN) for the development of a 60 MW floating solar farm in Saguling, Indonesia.
This project, a first for ACWA Power, is a key element in its diversification strategy in Southeast Asia.
The Saguling Floating Solar PV project is designed to meet Indonesia’s growing demand for renewable energy, while also meeting the country’s decarbonization objectives.
With a 49% stake, ACWA Power is joining forces with Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of PLN, which holds the remaining 51%, to ensure the success of this initiative.

A targeted expansion strategy

This partnership is part of ACWA Power’s wider strategy to increase its presence in high-potential emerging markets.
The choice of floating solar power reflects the company’s ability to adapt its technological solutions to local constraints, while maximizing the efficiency of available resources.
The project joins ACWA Power’s numerous initiatives in Indonesia, including the Garuda Hidrogen Hijau (GH2), the country’s largest green hydrogen production project.
This development underlines the company’s commitment to providing innovative, sustainable energy solutions that meet the specific needs of local economies.

Towards sustainable energy production

Indonesia, with its vast hydrographic network, offers ideal terrain for the implementation of floating solar projects.
The Saguling project will not only diversify the country’s energy mix, but also reduce dependence on fossil fuels, making a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions.
By joining forces with PLN and Indonesia Power, ACWA Power is demonstrating its ability to form solid partnerships, which are essential to the success of large-scale projects.
The company continues to assert its leading role in the renewable energy sector, positioning itself as a key player in Indonesia’s energy transition.
This emblematic project could serve as a model for other similar initiatives in the region, illustrating ACWA Power’s commitment to energy production that is both sustainable and economically viable.
