The European Union has taken a significant step towards promoting wind energy. At the recent Energy Council in Brussels, a majority of member states and leading representatives of the wind energy industry signed the European Wind Charter. This initiative, part of the European Wind Energy Action Plan, aims to rapidly align and implement actions by the Commission and signatories to improve conditions for the European wind industry.

National Commitments to Wind Energy

At the same time, 21 member states have already responded to the call of the Wind Energy Action Plan, committing to specific volumes of wind power deployment for the period 2024-2026. These commitments demonstrate the determination of member states to accelerate and intensify the deployment of wind energy, both onshore and offshore, in the EU.
Europe is positioning itself as a leader in the wind energy sector, with the European Wind Charter and national commitments marking an important step towards a sustainable energy future.
