CleanChoice Energy, a leading clean energy company, has implemented the first step in its mission to develop and own a portfolio ofsolar power generation facilities by acquiring a solar project in Franklin County, Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. The project has a planned installed capacity of 25.15 MWdc and is CleanChoice’s first acquisition in line with its long-term ownership strategy.

Project Details and Renewable Capacity

Located on 168 acres in Franklin County, this solar project will contribute renewable energy to the PJM power grid via FirstEnergy. CleanChoice Energy plans to begin construction on the site shortly, with the aim of starting energy production in the last quarter of 2024. Once operational, the plant will generate enough energy to power 4,500 homes.

This acquisition builds on CleanChoice’s existing development portfolio, which already totals 500 MW, and marks the company’s strategic expansion into the PJM, NY and NE ISOs (Independent Operating Systems).

CleanChoice’s Commitment to Renewable Energy

Zoe Gamble, President of CleanChoice Energy, emphasized the importance of this milestone, saying, “This is an important growth step for CleanChoice Energy as we make a strategic shift in the direction of our business – owning our own solar projects that deliver clean energy to the grid. The solar project is the first in a series of planned projects as we begin to realize our strategy of expanding power generation, which will enable us to make renewable energy more accessible to more people.”

Forward as a Green Energy Supplier

With this acquisition, CleanChoice Energy consolidates its position as the first independent 100% green energy supplier in the United States, producing 100% renewable energy and selling it directly to consumers. CleanChoice is dedicated to bringing 100% clean, pollution-free energy conveniently to homes across the U.S. and is actively working for a cleaner, more sustainable future.
