Solar energy in Arkansas is revolutionizing the state’s energy landscape. Lightsource bp and Conway Corp recently celebrated a major achievement: the completion of the Conway Solar at Happy project, a 135-megawatt solar farm. This milestone represents much more than just energy infrastructure; it’s a significant step towards energy independence for Arkansas, while bringing tangible benefits to the local community and theenvironment. In this article, we delve into the details of this ambitious project.

The Conway Solar at Happy Project

Bret Carroll, Managing Director of Conway Corp, shares his pride in the project, which began in 2019. For Conway Corp, this is one of the most important achievements since the company was founded in 1929. This project embodies the company’s mission to provide reliable, environmentally-friendly electricity to the community. The agreement with Lightsource bp guarantees that Conway Solar at Happy will produce enough clean energy to power 21,000 homes.

Lightsource bp’s Vision

Lightsource bp played a central role in the development, financing, construction and operation of the project. This $125 million investment represents much more than just energy infrastructure. It is a testament to the shared vision of Conway Corp and Lightsource bp, who believe that energy projects can bring multidimensional benefits to their communities.

Pollinator Conservation

The Conway Solar project is not limited to clean energy production. In collaboration with the Arkansas Monarch Conservation Partnership, Lightsource bp and Conway Corp have created a native pollinator garden. This five-acre garden is home to 46 varieties of Arkansas native plants. It plays a crucial role in providing habitat and nectar for endangered monarch butterflies and other pollinators essential to our food chain.

Conway Solar update

Beyond clean energy, pollinator conservation and economic development, this project is a demonstration of commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. In fact, it significantly reduces CO2 emissions, equivalent to taking 35,400 gasoline-powered cars off the road. In this way, Conway Corp and Lightsource bp have established a model for other communities wishing to pursue a responsible energy transition.

The Conway Solar at Happy project is a remarkable achievement, combining energy independence, environmental conservation and economic development. This initiative goes far beyond simple energy production. It illustrates how energy projects can benefit both the planet and the community.
