Green Genius-Nordex: a contract for the supply of 11 wind turbines

Green Genius signs a service contract with Nordex to supply eleven wind turbines, strengthening its renewable energy portfolio in Lithuania. The Jurbarkas wind farm will provide 85 MW of green energy and will be completed by 2025.

Renewable energy company Green Genius has taken another step towards its goal of providing sustainable energy to the Baltic region by signing a service contract with Nordex Group to supply eleven wind turbines.

First phase of construction underway for the Jurbarkas wind farm

The company is already in the early stages of construction of its Jurbarkas wind farm in Lithuania, and this new contract will further strengthen its renewable energy portfolio.

The Jurbarkas wind farm is expected to have a total capacity of 85 MW, making it a significant contribution to Lithuania’s wind power portfolio, contributing approximately 8.5% of the country’s current wind power capacity. The wind farm is located in a very windy area in southwestern Lithuania, about 50 km from the coast of the Baltic Sea, which makes it an ideal location for a wind farm.

The first phase of construction, which will provide 63 MW of wind power, is already underway, and the Nordex Group will provide eleven wind turbines with a total capacity of nearly 63 MW in 2024. The remaining 22 MW of the Jurbarkas wind farm is still in the final development phase, and the supplier of the five additional wind turbines will be selected later in the process.

Premium service for the maintenance of Jurbarkas turbines for 20 years

Green Genius has invested more than 100 million euros in the construction of the Jurbarkas wind farm, which is expected to be completed by 2025. The wind farm will provide green energy to the business sector operating in Lithuania, saving over 130,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Ph.D. Darius Biekša, Head of Wind and Hydrogen at Green Genius, expressed his gratitude to the Nordex Group for its outstanding service, stating that “wind power is a crucial component of a renewable mix for a stable and efficient green energy supply. Therefore, we believe that another 85 MW in Lithuania will contribute significantly to the sustainability and energy independence of the Baltic region.

As part of the service contract, Nordex Group will also provide premium service for the maintenance of the Jurbarkas turbines for 20 years. This guarantees the longevity of the turbines, which will contribute to the sustainability of the Jurbarkas wind farm and the energy independence of the Baltic region.
