Gazelle Wind Power (Gazelle), the developer of a revolutionary offshore floating wind turbine platform, has partnered with renewable energy developer WAM Horizon (WAM) to accelerate the development of a pilot plant in Aguçadoura, Portugal.

Target 10 GW: Gazelle and WAM join the race for offshore wind in Portugal.

The innovative floating platform, designed by Gazelle, is modular, scalable and lightweight, making it a cost-effective solution for the development of commercial offshorewind projects in Portugal. The collaboration with WAM, the holding company of WAM Investments, will provide strategic advisory services to Gazelle to ensure the successful implementation of the pilot project.

Portugal is an important destination for offshore wind energy and has set an ambitious target of 10 GW by 2030. Gazelle’s revolutionary floating wind turbine platform is ideally positioned to achieve this goal. In addition, WAM Horizon’s extensive experience in the offshore wind industry, including its involvement in the WindFloat Atlantic project, offers Gazelle a partner with a track record of success in the region.

Gazelle CEO Jon Salazar is excited about the partnership and the potential it offers for Gazelle’s groundbreaking technology, “WAM Horizon has exceptional offshore wind experience in the region, making them an ideal partner to support Gazelle’s project and help position our unique platform as the go-to solution for offshore floating wind platforms.”

WAM Horizon President Adelino Costa Matos shares Salazar’s enthusiasm, “Gazelle’s innovative platform design makes it a very promising solution to drive the offshore wind industry into the future, supporting WAM Horizon’s long-term vision to enable large-scale offshore wind energy. We look forward to continuing to work with the Gazelle team to advance this pilot project and make an impact on the transition to clean energy.”

Gazelle and WAM Horizon: A promising collaboration for the future of offshore wind energy

Gazelle Wind Power Limited is headquartered in Dublin, with a presence in Dubai, London, Madrid, Paris and Texas. The company’s durable and innovative floating hybrid platform offers high attenuated pitch stability, overcoming current buoyancy barriers and geographic limitations while reducing costs and preserving fragile marine environments.

Indeed, the partnership between Gazelle and WAM Horizon offers a promising opportunity to accelerate the development of offshore wind energy in Portugal, positioning Gazelle’s floating platform as the reference solution for offshore floating wind platforms.

With Portugal’s ambitious target of 10 GW by 2030, this partnership is a significant step towards achieving global decarbonization and leading the offshore wind industry into the future. Gazelle Wind Power Limited is confident that this collaboration with WAM Horizon will achieve this goal by providing an innovative and cost effective solution for offshore floating wind projects.
