Especially for lifting the dome to a height of +61.700, a crossbeam weighing 75 tons was developed and manufactured. The total weight of the structure lifted by the Liebherr LR 13000 crane was 340 tons.

After the concreting of the dome part of the CI, the final phase of the construction and installation of the external containment will begin. a major milestone in the construction of the first powertrain.”

A Russian-Turkish collaboration

The Akkuyu nuclear power plant is the first nuclear power plant under construction in Turkey. The capacity of each nuclear power plant will be 1200 MW.

Currently, the Russian side is financing the project entirely. The Akkuyu nuclear power plant is the world’s first nuclear industry project implemented under the Build-Own-Operate model.

In addition, the Akkuyu nuclear power plant is expected to begin operation in 2025, 7 years after all construction permits and licenses are obtained in 2018.

Turkey maintains its relations with Russia despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, diplomatic relations between the two countries vary according to interests.
