Mount Hopeful, an onshore wind farm in Australia owned by Neoen will supply Stanwell under a 15-year PPA.

A 15-year plan

Mount Hopeful will grant 65% of its production to the Stanwell distributor. The wind farm has a total capacity of 330MW and is 100% owned by Neoen. In addition, both companies are also exploring other renewable project opportunities in Queensland.

The future Mount Hopeful wind farm is located in the area southwest of Rockhampton, in central Queensland. Neoen will also involve the Gaangalu community in the project, which is hosting the wind farm on its ancestral lands. Construction will begin in the second half of 2023 and production will start in 2026.

A third project

Mount Hopeful will produce an amount of electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 240,000 homes. In addition, the wind farm will create nearly 220 jobs during the construction phase and up to 12 permanent positions for operation and maintenance. Louis de Sambucy, Managing Director of Neoen Australia, states:

We look forward to creating jobs in the energy transition sector and producing green energy, contributing to Queensland’s ambitious target of 70% renewable energy by 2032.”

Neoen is one of the largest producers of renewable energy in Australia. The company has over 2.5 GW of assets in operation or under construction. In addition, the company has 817MW in the state of Queensland
