Growth in Spain

In Spain, the Herencia solar power plant recently reached the commercial operation date with Impax Asset Management. Impax Asset Management was acquiring the rights to the project in 2019.

Fraile, a 36MWp solar plant, is expected to generate 78GWh of electricity in its first year of operation. This production is equivalent to supplying 23,000 homes. In addition, it will avoid the emission of 12,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

An old establishment

Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, states:

“I am thrilled to see the growth of our footprint in Spain, where we have been present since our inception in 2009. Our team has done an exceptional job of working together to optimize our portfolio as we evolve as key players in the energy transition in Europe.”

The sales process is managed by PWC. In addition, Impax Asset Management is advised by Gómez-Acebo & Pombo and Sonnedix is advised by Ashurst.

The plant will be powered by Canadian Solar modules, PV hardware trackers and JEMA inverters. ELMYA will be the EPC contractor and will also provide operation and maintenance (O&M) for the first two years. This is Sonnedix’s fourth acquisition in Spain in 2022, where it manages 181 solar projects with a capacity of about 1GW.
