Logelbach, in the municipality of Wintzenheim, in the Grand-Est region of France, is home to a new 12.1MW solar power plant from Voltalia.
Confirmation of a strategy
Logelbach is located in the commune of Wintzenheim, in the European Community of Alsace. The site chosen by Voltalia for its 12.1MW solar power plant covers 12 hectares. In addition, the site has 21,384 solar panels.
The plant is expected to be operational in the second half of 2023. The production of the future photovoltaic power plant in Logelbach will cover the electricity consumption of about 6000 inhabitants. Sébastien Clerc, CEO of Voltalia, says:
“The launch of the construction of this new power plant comes shortly after the start of construction of the Rives Charentaises, Sud Vannier and Montclar wind and solar farms, as well as the many solar roofing projects on industrial, commercial and agricultural buildings carried out by our subsidiary Helexia. In total, nearly 83 megawatts of new electrical capacity are being added in France, equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 57,000 people. In this way, we are helping to minimize the energy crisis that is hitting France and the rest of Europe hard.”
A historic location
The Grand-Est region is a historic territory for Voltalia. Indeed, the company has wind farms in operation such as Molinons and Sarry. The company also owns wind farms under construction such as Sud Vannier.
Voltalia produces and sells electricity generated from wind, solar, hydro, biomass and storage facilities that it owns. The company has more than 2.4GW of production capacity in operation and under construction, including Logelbach. In addition, the company has a portfolio of projects under development with a total capacity of 13.6MW.
